well, i think a Cloud Service is something which will be quite common in the future.
in Business lots of Services are beeing layed off to the Cloud already.
this is something which will happen in private "Business" as well.
Internet links for private households are getting faster and faster.
there are several aspects of a Internet Server, which simply allowes me to watch my favourites series (recorded from TV and uploaded automatically) wherever i am, without beeing limited by my slow uplink Speed.
my Setup is a local Server with several terrabytes, the newest records are always mirrowed to the Cloud Server. so data is redundant, but just because for the case i want to use it when traveling. so the idea is to have all the data sent to the Cloud Server.
well, yes, the cossts would be a problem today (i use this Server for free) but i am very sure the prices (especially for storage) will drop and lots of customers might think of having their own Server in the Cloud.
and btw, what about sharing my movie database with friends. simply pass out you your Connection Details and they can link their local serviio Installation with the remote one. a giant movie database (Internet of movies) might come up - i dont want to discuss if this is legal, but if used in a Group of friends - ...
so i do see some potential here, but if it is not doable, i can live with my redundant data as well - why bother...
