Plugins - Does not exist - DSM 5 Beta

Hi All,

Managed to install Serviio on Synology DS412+ running on DSM 5 beta - I use the "h_ttp://packages.pcloadletter.co.uk/" Community Package that was supplied. For both the Java SE for Embedded 7 & the Serviio package. (DON'T USE THE SYNOLOGY SUPPLIED JAVA MANAGER AS THE "DiscoveryAdverstisementNotifier" WILL FAIL TO START).

Anyway running fine can add the media libraries, see the DNLA service on my Panasonic, connect the 'Windows' Serviio Console...

I've added the plugins from the zip "Serviio Plugins 1.3.1. 24.10.2013.zip" to the /volume1/public/serviio/plugins - but when I re-start 'serviio' the log says

"INFO [PluginComplierThread] Looking for plugins at /volume1/public/serviio/plugins
WARN [PluginComplierThread] Plugins folder '/volume1/public/serviio/plugins' does not exit. No plugins will be complied'

I've set the owner/group to serviio/users for the entire directory tree from the serviio level up & set the persmissions to 755 for all files & it still can't see the .groovy files. I've even copied them to /volume1/@appstore/Serviio/plugins and re-started.

Again no luck.

Checked the process and it's running under the user account serviio with the jre of /volume1/@appstore/java7/jre/bin/java.

So I'm now stumped as to the problem.

Anyone able to help.

Cheers

JCaine

Re: Plugins - Does not exist - DSM 5 Beta

Look again at the path in the error. You need to place the plugins in /volume1/public/serviio/plugins, not /volume1/@appstore/Serviio/plugins. This was to make it easier for Linux newbies to add plugins using DSM's normal File Station browser (which won't show the @appstore folder).

Re: Plugins - Does not exist - DSM 5 Beta

So I have a very similar problem. I'm running DSM 5.0-4493 Update 2 on my 1511+. All my folders work fine except the online content. As per the screenshot below, I think I have the .groovy files in the correct folder. Is there something I'm missing?

Re: Plugins - Does not exist - DSM 5 Beta

Does the serviio user definitely have permission to read the 'public' shared folder?

Re: Plugins - Does not exist - DSM 5 Beta

After installing the Serviio package according to the instructions on http://pcloadletter.co.uk/2012/01/25/se ... o-package/ I did not get a /volume1/public/serviio/plugins folder, so I created it myself. But plugins did not work and the logs revealed that it was looking in the folder /var/public/serviio/plugins . I changed serviio.sh to look under /volume1 and now it works but I'm a bit curious as to why the path was "wrong" to begin with?

Re: Plugins - Does not exist - DSM 5 Beta

That certainly sounds like it could be my problem as well. Could anyone please help me modify my serviio.sh file on my Synology DS1511+?

Thanks in advance.

Where and how did you find servio.sh could you provide step by step INFO?
As I red through almost everything it should be done on a server, (I have server on a NAS (Synology)), somewhere should be defined way for the serviio where to find plugins and probably it is mentioned file serviio.sh, but I cannot find serviio.sh. Or if I should create this than How and where I should place it later?

Re: Plugins - Does not exist - DSM 5 Beta

Hi again. Waited for the answer or help, no replies, so did own research and solution is found. For those who is as me - beginner.
1. installed Serviio (1.4.2) on my Synology;
2. installed Serviio console (1.4.) on my laptop;
everything according instructions from Serviio, but then I could not find "Public" folder, so I created it, then I created folder "serviio" and then "plugins".
3. downloaded all plugins and extracted them from the archive into the "plugins" folder. But then nothing happened.
4. made research and found that it is necessary to make changes in serviio.sh file, but could not find it. In order to find it you need to login into your Synology as root, I have tried to do so but without success because to do so you need another program, I am using WinSCP. How to do it you can easy find on youtube. Then when you succeed to login as root you can find file serviio.sh in volume1/@appstore/serviio/bin , then you can open it in order to edit and you need to make changes in line where is information about plugins (I have used ctrl+f and searched for the plugin) and then you will see that it is looking in the folder /var/public/serviio/plugins so you need to change to -Dplugins.location=/volume1/public/serviio.
5. checked - nothing, waited 14-20 min - nothing, went to bed and switched off my Synology, in the morning it has wake up time, I woke up 2 h later and when checked everything was working, so probably restart is necessary.
Good luck, hope this will help you.

However as here is written a lot of plugins are outdated or not working or urls are outdated. After last update stopped working seasonvar. plugin what is really sad. Still in process of understanding of all capabilities of Serviio. At the moment satisfied - great job!!! however would like to see some more features or may be not discovered yet but this is other topic already.

Re: Plugins - Does not exist - DSM 5 Beta

Hi to all,

I had the same problem, what Jurijlv is telling is true.
But i had a different issue, i had install serviio on a different volume (because i have 4 hdd and 1 ssd), so i had move the install directory to my ssd but the config stays in the FIRST installed directory.
You have to change it like Jurijlv explained. Before you do this, please check out which folder your "public" folder is located (just hover over your folder and you will see).

How to do:
1 - Change ssl port : Controlpanel - File services - FTP (tab) - enable "SFTP" - change port SFTP to 3522 (if not, you will be attacked from the internet) - Apply
2 - Terminal Login : Download "putty" (windows users) - enter Lan ip - change port from 22 to 3522 - mark SSH - Open - Click no
3 - Edit serviio.sh : Enter credentials - Username must be "root" / password is your own password - type "vi /volume1/@appstore/serviio/bin/serviio.sh" (change volume1 if you didnt install serviio in that hdd) - type the letter i (this will enable edit mode) - line 57 in the end change the volume number "-Dplugins.location=/volume.." if its like Jurijlv says (if its a /var/... location) change it to "-Dplugins.location=/volume [number] /public/serviio" - press "esc" - type :wq (this will save and exit vi)
4 - Folder permissions : controlpanel - user - hit "Serviio" - Edit - Permissions - mark "public" on read/write - OK
5 - Restart serviio, if it doesnt work after a restart, reboot your Ssynology nas

PS
-- Be sure you have the latest plugins.
-- For linux dummie's : in "putty" after you type some letters like "/vol" and you can double hit the "tab" key to check if the folder exist

Goodluck to yall
