Problem with Serviio 1.4 and Sharp Aquos

Hello

I was using Serviio 1.21 with my Sharp Aquos TV and I updated to V1.4 :
- Now my TV cannot list AVI video files. I have reinstalled my modified Sharp Aquos profile but the problem remain the same (with this profile and Serviio V1.21 it was possible to list and to read AVI videos)
- MKV files are listed but cannot be read (this problem already existed with V1.21)

Profile used
  Code:
   <Profile id="Sharp_Aquos" name="Sharp Aquos" extendsProfileId="1">

Re: Problem with Serviio 1.4 and Sharp Aquos

Hello

I have solved the AVI problem by adding a ligne in the profile to transcode AVI to MPEG
  Code:
<Video targetContainer="mpeg" targetVCodec="mpeg2video" targetACodec="ac3" aBitrate="384">
            <Matches container="matroska" />
            <Matches container="avi" />

Now AVI files are listed and can be read
I do not understand why it is now needed to explicit a transcoding and not with Serviio 1.21 (and also not in the stock profile)

But the problem remain with MKV: they are listed on the TV but cannot be read ... even if the transcoding command is the same than for AVI

Re: Problem with Serviio 1.4 and Sharp Aquos

Have you tried the stock 1.4 Sharp Aquos profile?

For MKV issue: try removing the
<Matches container="matroska" vCodec="h264"/>
line and seeing if that lets you see the MKV files. Will help point in the right direction. Is it all MKV's or just some? What is the H264 profile level on the offending MKV's?

For AVI: something to do with mime mapping is my guess. Remove the transcoding and play with that (for starters try removing the name="" bit, or the whole line, or set it to "video/divx"). Best if you can avoid transcoding is possible.

Re: Problem with Serviio 1.4 and Sharp Aquos

Thanks for your reply

DenyAll wrote:Have you tried the stock 1.4 Sharp Aquos profile?
I've tried it with the same result than with mine concerning AVI

DenyAll wrote:For MKV issue... Is it all MKV's or just some? What is the H264 profile level on the offending MKV's?
In fact it was only some MKV but I cannot detect what is the problem: it's not the H264 level, not the Codecs .... So I've re-encoded those files with ffmpeg and they are OK now

DenyAll wrote:For AVI: Best if you can avoid transcoding is possible.
According to Sharp documentation, AVI are not supported on Sharp Aquos with DLNA ... even if they are supported when using an USB key. What is strange is that transcoding was not explicited with my V1.21 profile or in the stock profile!

I've found another issue: AUDIO files (FLAC & MP3) are listed but are not played by the TV (it was OK with previous V1.21)
I will investigate to understand it

As it doesn't seem to be a specific problem for Sharp Aquos, I've created a dedicated topic: http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=15595

Re: Problem with Serviio 1.4 and Sharp Aquos

I think everything then is resolved, other than:
According to Sharp documentation, AVI are not supported on Sharp Aquos with DLNA ... even if they are supported when using an USB key. What is strange is that transcoding was not explicited with my V1.21 profile or in the stock profile!
Other than a few audio codecs added, the Sharp Aquos profile didn't change from 1.2.1 to 1.4.

For what its worth my Panasonic isn't meant to support AVI over DLNA according to its manual, but it does. Serviio does this by changing the mime type (to video/divx). You may want to play with that, or try removing the line all together; otherwise you can add the commands to transcode AVI to the profile: adding <Matches container="avi" /> directly above the line <Matches container="wtv" /> should do it.

I have tried the 3 solutions, all with the same result: the AVI files are not listed on the TV browser
I will keep the transcoding :(

I've found another issue. When playing a .M2TS file (HD TV recording) image is correct but I have no sound on the TV.

Re: Problem with Serviio 1.4 and Sharp Aquos

See viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3992. This files uses enhanced AC3 which at the moment cannot be distinguished from normal AC3. You could try getting Servio to transcode it to another format (eg. presuming the Sharp can play mp3 audio natively???) - add:
  Code:
<Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="mp3">
   <Matches container="mpegts" aCodec="ac3"" />
</Video>
just above the line <Audio targetContainer="lpcm">. If mp3 doesn't work try some of the other audio codecs (eg. lpcm).

Otherwise, as zip suggested, you will need to manually re-encode this video to use standard AC3 audio (try XMedia Recode).
