themoviedb.org confusion over Star Trek Titles

I added an alternate Title, Star Trek I for the coutntry Sweden, for Star Trek: The Motion Picture in themoviedb.org

I have a movie file with the title Star.Trek.I.The.Motion.Picture.mp4

However, Serviio decides the title for this and all the other Star Trek Movies is consistently Star Trek.

I suppose it finds the later "Star Trek 2009" movie, but why?? There's only one having some alternative name Star Trek I precisely and...
I suppose I don't understand HOW Serviio decides which match to use. Shortest? Longest? Som involved preference arrangement depending on language??

Have a read of the wiki article: http://www.serviio.org/component/conten ... extraction. This should explain how Serviio matches filenames to movies.

Try adding the year of the movie in brackets (1979).

The ONLY information regarding movie titles on that link actually is: "The other files will be treated as movies." :geek:

I'll try and add the year.

I wish Zip would describe what he does to try and find a movie name.....

You can enable detailed logging and see the query string used when calling themovied.org API. The there is some matching, but usually it just takes the first result.

Yeah right.

I'm old.-school; Anything you design should be documented beforehand, in public.

Well. Your show.

P.S. Adding years worked. Tedious, but worked.

Have a look at FileBot in the Tools area of the wiki - this will take a lot of the tedium away from adding the years (and otherwise finding a match).
