I've tried using the pirateplay.se webapp and AdobeHDS.php to download stuff from SVTPlay, and it fails fairly often.

I' was going to write to the Pirateplay guy and ask, but.... I can't find a contact address anywhere?? Am I going blind??

And am I right in guessing that AdobeHDS.php only ever gets involved in downloading HDS streams ( the "only" bit isn't ever stated explicitly on the pirateplay web page ) and that to get a download command generated from the app I have to find an HDS stream and use that as data to the web app: the AdobeHDS.php script can't possibly be used from the ffmpeg commands generated for HLS streams, or can it??

From the front page of http://pirateplay.se:
Vem?

Vem står för sidan? Det gör jag, Jacques de Laval, licensbetalare. På fritiden utvecklar och underhåller jag Pirateplay.se och Pirateplayer. Man når mig enklast via e-post: jacques[snabel-a]pirateplay.se eller via Twitter.

AFAIK, yes: AdobeHDS.php only ever gets involved in downloading HDS streams.
I assume that the pirateplay app usually suggests HLS streams over HDS precisely for the same reasons as the SvtPlay plugin; because ffmpeg is more a more versatile tool (and the only one supported by Serviio).

Oh, GOOD, I'm going blind...
Serviio 2.3 in a jail on TrueNAS 13 running on an HP N54L w 5*4 TB spinning rust disks.
The media files are on the same machine.

Re: SvtPlay

Hi,

I am trying to get SvtPlay live "kanaler" to work on my Samsung TV, but when I add http://www.svtplay.se/kanaler to my online web resources the only thing I get is an empty folder with that name, same thing if I try "local" by using VLC upnp..I am sure I make some basic misstake but I would be happy if you could point me to it.. 8-)

Did you add "Kanaler" as a Web resource type (not the default RSS type)?

Re: SvtPlay

The svtplay plugin works fine with my Samsung TV. Thanks to the hackers who made this possible. :)

Swedish television has moved it's archive to http://www.oppetarkiv.se .The site look like svtplay so maybe the svtplay plugin only needs some small tweeking from a guru to work with the archive as well?

Wapman: "kategorier" is not supposed to work. You need to select one (or more) of the shows listed on that page. Create one feed for each show.

"Kanaler" are live shows and there still seem to be problems with the serviio command issued for these, and the support for these in ffmepeg.

Sven: se further up in this thread. I have posted a prototype for an Öppet Atkiv plugin. It (or rather: Serviio) does not support feeds with åäö in the url, but the other shows should work.

Did you ever file a ticket for that?

On the other hand, Öppet Arkiv seem to have shaped up and removed special language characters in URL:s.

The URL you posted still has Ä in the URL. The individual clips do not though. I filed a ticket.

Actually, the URL I posted has escaped Ä:s. (%A4).

So, somewhere along they become unescaped, either when you copy the URL in your browser, or when Serviio passes it to the plugin.

You mean like this? http://www.oppetarkiv.se/etikett/titel/Fem%20myror%20%A4r%20fler%20%A4n%20fyra%20elefanter/. This gives me a 404.

How does this really work - is SVT Play videos possible to play on the samung bluray without transcoding? I at least have believed so since even high resolution episodes works like a charm without my PC working too heavy.

I also tryout Plex from time to time - but here I can't get SVT Play to work without transcoding. And "plex transcoding" seems to be too heavy for my old PC.

The way it works is (briefly):

If your player (The Samsung Bluray or the Plex player) has a player profile in Serviio, then this profile informs serviio about the player's supported media formats. (If there is no matching profile, then the generic DLNA profile will be used).

When the plugin locates a show, serviio will use ffmpeg to sniff the beginning of the stream to determine the media format of the stream.

If Serviio finds that the stream is encoded with a codec supported by the player, it will not apply transcoding (unless the profile forces it). But the container must also be supported. If not, then serviio will remux the stream. This is another form of re-packing of the stream which is much less cpu-intensive.

HTH.

Ok, but since you have an Samsung (as I also have) I guess you knew if transcoding/remuxing normally is needed or nor for SVT Play?
Or is it possible to see in some log or similar in case transcoding/remuxing is used?
