Synology NAS - subtitles (srt format) missing

Hello,

I installed Serviio succesfully on my NAS DS212j.
After configuring the shared folders everything works fine, except the subtitles, and that's just the reason why I installed Serviio on my NAS. Otherwise I just can use the standard Media server...

I installed Serviio on my computer also with exact the same parameters, everything works fine on my TV (Samsung).
But when I view the movies from my NAS, the subtitles are missing.
And yes, I selected the correct Renderer profile (Samsung TV / player C/D/E-series) on both configurations.

With UPnP inspector I checked what information was deliverd by both Serviio installations, the NAS version had indeed no subtitle information.

NAS SERVIIO => DIDL-Lite:res (2 found)
http://10.0.0.4:8895/resource/1/MEDIA_I ... 0/ORIGINAL
http://10.0.0.4:8895/resource/1/COVER_IMAGE

PC SERVIIO => DIDL-Lite:res (3 found)
http://10.0.0.116:8895/resource/1/MEDIA ... 0/ORIGINAL
http://10.0.0.116:8895/resource/1/COVER_IMAGE
http://10.0.0.116:8895/resource/1/SUBTITLE.srt

So, why is the subtitle information missing?
I hope someone can help me with this...

Thanks!

Do you have the same FFmpeg version on NAS and PC ?
Or refresh library on NAS.

How can I check the ffmpeg version on my NAS?
Does Serviio use ffmpeg to detect a srt file?

Re: Synology NAS - subtitles (srt format) missing

So you know, there's nothing adapted for the Synology package - it actually downloads and unpacks the standard Linux Serviio build from this site. There are no changes to the profiles, so I can't explain why you are seeing this difference.

Serviio is being launched with a few additional parameters (forcing the default temp folder, the heap size, and an option to use fixed point maths encoders where possible on ARM CPUs). Perhaps Zip may be better placed to comment on what could interfere with this.

Re: Synology NAS - subtitles (srt format) missing

I really don't know what the problem is, but I've given up.
I activated the standard Media Server on my Synology NAS, configured it correctly and everything worked perfectly after configuring the correct device profile.
Also everything shows up on Windows Media Player, which wasn't the case for Serviio.
Sadly to say, but Serviio looses this battle...

Also, at home I installed Serviio on my Windows Server 2003 a few month ago.
Works good for my Samsung TV, but I noticed that Serviio eats a lot of memory.
A little bit too much...

Form the initial post it looks like it was not using the right profile, hence the subtitle resource is missing. Sorry to be late to the party - a detailed log would have shown us which profile was used.

Re: Synology NAS - subtitles (srt format) missing

Hello, I have the exact same problem.

To sum up : With Serviio installed on my Mac, the renderer (my cable company settopbox) displays the subtitles, but with Serviio installed on my NAS, the renderer doesn't display the subtitles.

I've checked all the parameters (profiles included of course) and they are all the same. I also tried each and every profiles but with no result. How could I help you to help me ?
