Sony KDL-32EX600 aspect ratio & music

Hi there,

I've found that a huge number of my video files (.avi container) don't fill the screen when running under Serviio to my Sony BRAVIA KDL-32EX600, but fill the screen on my Pioneer 507 when played through my PS3 connected to Serviio. Renderer is set to "Automatic detection"

I've attached 2 photos to show the amount of screen left unfilled on the Sony.

The second problem I've noticed is serving music - Serviio reports no files in my music directories that have been added to my library, the audio checkbox is ticked and I've forced refresh. Music is in .MP3, .AAC, and .FLAC formats. Serviio has been running for weeks so there's been ample opportunity to have it add files to the library.

I assume you are in the TV's Audio menu category? You could also check serviio.log to see if the files have been added.

The log is continually rewritten, yes? Well mine is anyway. How do I check? I've looked at the log file and it doesn't contain very much at all.

First of all, is 10.1.1.4 your IP address? I assume it's not, add it as bound address in the console.

Try renaming one of your mp3 files and wait for it to be reindexed, then you should see an entry in the log.

That IP address is correct at the time. I'm usually 10.1.1.2 though, but router has been dropping out a bit tonight and IP has changed.

I renamed a file, it's been re-indexed, but doesn't appear on the TV menu when I browse to it. No music is listed at all in any folder.

Thanks for helping troubleshoot. I've run the tool, and although the complete directory structure is recognised, there's no media in the the music folders, despite the log showing it recognised the new file added to a directory from the previous posts.

The tool is a bit tricky, try opening the folders slowly, ie click on the + icon after 10-20 seconds, depending on how many files there should be in the folder (it tries to get contents of a lot of folders at the same time and sometimes gets confused).

Folders with music are all empty. Video files all listed as expected.

Can you turn on detailed logging (link in signature) and rename a file again? Post the bit in the log around the time when it indexes it.

Hi Petr,

I've turned on detailed logging, but the log keeps getting overwritten when it reaches approximately 500kB, meaning I need to time my access to the log to find the entry of indexing. I've tried it twice but each time I've not been able to see the entry as it's either gone or not occurred. I've waited until all activity has apparently ceased, but the entries we're interested in have been removed.

Is there another way?

So you can't get to it via Genres for example (Unknown)? This particular file has no album not artist.

I don;t have any of them showing. I removed all that according to the "hack" http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=738&p=5670&hilit=folders+hack#p5670, as I find it all cluttered, and not how I use my players. I guess I'm an old school directory man, it's how my music is organised.

well there you go. the hack only displays videos in folder structure, not images or audio files.

Damn, I didn't realise when I implemented it in October! I thought it simply removed the guff and left me with my folder structure only!

Since the update to 0.5.2 I've forgone the hack that prevented me from seeing music files etc., and I'm happy with the implementation of what to display - thanks!

Unfortunately a LOT of my video files are still incorrectly displayed on the Sony Bravia TV, they don't fill it but appear as per the picture in the first post of the thread. They're fine playing on my Pioneer 507 through PS3 filling the entire screen.
