First usage
Hi,
I migrated from Twonky, and Serviio certainly has a much better interface and seems to be working very nicely. I have a lot to learn about DLNA though and having issues with some devices. Connected is a Panasonic TH-P55ST30Z TV, a couple of Blu Ray players and a DMR-XW380 recorder. The Blu Ray players are over 2 rooms and connect to the PC via a router and 4 port switch. One of them (BD-77) plays fine, and one doesn't (BD-110) but I think this is something Panasonic have done. Both are supposedly DLNA certified.
One slightly odd thing, when I first ran Serviio, and set a source Folder, which contained about 30 subfolders, no device could see all of them (and what was varied slightly between them) until I reduced the Visibilty options under Presentation. I disabled all but 3 which are set to 'Display category'.
What does 'Content Only' do ?
Under Status three devices are showing with Generic DLNA profile, one of them is described as a 'NFLC SDK v1.5'. I can't identify what that is, and it has a green button beside it. The second is TV, and the third Unrecognized device with an orange button.
What Twonky did, was allow (some, not all) files recorded to the 380 to be viewed on the PC, or copied to a folder on the PC. So far I can't see the 380 with Serviio or tell if it has this capability. It was very handy, as the HDD on the recorder is quite small.
Keen to discuss, find out more etc. if anyone wants to reply!
Regards, Kirk
