Newbie: can navigation take place from Android interface?

Just discovered DLNA & Serviio

On an Android device (phone/tablet) can one use the device interface to control the media content which is pushed to a TV o r the TV can only pull from the device ?

Yes, install a DLNA Controller software, like Skifta

If you do this make sure that you select the TV profile for both devices.
