Just a Thank You

I was using XBMC on my tv in the living room when my daughters gave me a bd player for my birthday. I'm not a person with unlimited financial resources so I was making the best with streaming media to it with the allshare that was free.. what a piece of crap. no transcoding so half of my library was going to need to be recoded. After searching i unfortunately ran across Mezzmo first and it seemed to do what I needed although the interface sucked and it lacked a long list of features. So I bought it after the trial period ended. Still searching for something better because of my previous experience with XBMC i found you good people. Amazing product. i love you all. Thank you for all your hard work and i promise as soon as finances allow i will be making a donation for at least the amount I reluctantly paid to Mezzmo.

Re: Just a Thank You

I have a similar story too! I was using PS3 Media Server because all the forums were saying it worked great and was free and worked on many devices (including my new Panasonic smart TV). But I could only successfully play a verrrrrry small handful of files using that Media Server with my TV, and only one format (some MP4s played) - transcoding didn't seem to work either for the others. Then I discovered Serviio, and 75% of my files play now! The others that don't, I am just going to re-encode in the formats that I now know do work. A small inconvenience.

The truth is, If I hadn't discovered Serviio, I would be VERY disappointed that I wasted time, energy, and a LOT of money on hardware that didn't work like I hoped it would. For that, Serviio will be getting a nice donation from me as well!

Instead of re-encoding them. Post the information about a video that will not play (see signature) and the renderer that you are trying to watch them on and we can make Serviio work with more devices.

Oh, that's a great idea. I'll definitely give you some examples.

I am having some trouble with one in-particular (Tron Legacy) that was an AVI file, and even after converting it to an MP4 still is not wanting to play properly. Its interesting how that works most of the time, but some files are stubborn. i assume its something in the encode that even after converting still doesn't change?

Yes there are different codecs that can be used for the video and the audio.

Take the one above that you are having problems playing and create a new post in support or transcoding. In that post, put the details of the video file (see signature).
