Can't Get Started LG570 Windows 7 Ult

I cannot get Serviio to show in my TV LG570 Homelink Select Server List (along with Nero and WM).

I just can't get started. Serviio is apparently successfully installed with 64 bit Java on Windows 7 Ultimate. The service starts, is seen under services, console runs, I have added folders to the library.

I'm using homelimk successfully with Nero MH (not Essentials) and Windows Media servers with Zone Alarm with trusted zone security OFF.

I'm rather frustrated with Nero MH and not convinced it is working as it should and here trying to find a better solution.

In the Serviio console status (server started) searched devices box I only see one other applicable server - WM. Occasionally I will get "Windows" media player to show after actually starting windows media player, but I don't think I am seeing the server. As I think I should, by comparing that box to the device dialog in a running Nero Mediahome server, I do not see: 1) my LG bluray player, 2) nero media home, widows media server.

I've tried bound (SAVE REFRESH) IP addresses of my server, 127.0.0.1, my network, 192.168.1.33. I've tried setting that to the IP of the bluray player, 192.168.1.33 and whatever my outer internet IP address is.

I've tried adding the LG bluray server Ip directly. It never shows as connected (green button).

I have tried all of the above with the firewall disabled and with it replaced by Windows 7, serviio reloaded >> still nothing,

I've made sure all 3 entries for a serviio routine under firewall programs are all options enabled.

I prefer not running serviio at startup and manually start it later (delete startup entry so delayed atrtup is not an issue). I don't understand the instructions about pass system properties to Serviio.

Any ideas? HELP

Arrggghhh

OK, I have eliminated Zone Alarm. I saw a few uninstall issues on google and am quite sure it is removed completely. Windows firewall is now in use. I uninstalled/reinstalled serviio. I think I figured out the bound address, if needed, should be the address of the ethernet adapter. I see three entries in Windows firewall for Serviio. I don't see anything about the TCP and UDP ports :-(. Still not working.

Re: Can't Get Started LG570 Windows 7 Ult

You cannot use the 127.0.0.1 that is an internal IP address the same as local host. It cannot be addressed outside the computer. In the bound IP box, you need to put the IP address that is used to connect to your network. Like the 192.168.1.33 .

Please post your serviio.log

Did you make sure the ports was open on your fire wall?

  Code:
My device doesn't see Serviio

This could be caused by you having multiple IP addresses on the machine and Serviio binding to a wrong one. Insert IP address of the machine running Serviio into 'Bound IP address' field in Network Settings section in the console or pass system variable serviio.boundAddr including the IP address when starting the server.

Also make sure that TCP port 8895 and UDP 1900 are open in your firewall.

If you are on a Linux based OS, make sure you set up multicast routes properly.

If on Windows, you can push Serviio service down in starting order.

Re: Can't Get Started LG570 Windows 7 Ult

I am very happy to report that upon heading back to this two days later I have a mild shock - I saw serviio on my TV "select a server". I'm playing American Pie (vid) as I write :-). I guess past the point of my last post I just needed one more reboot. I'm convinced that OLD NO MORE firewall was the problem.

Yes, the adapter address is used: 192.168.1.33.

However, I still do not think I'm seeing everything I should in the Serviio console service tab device list. And "Serviio (localhost)" seems to appear and disappear in Window Explorer Network 'Media Devices' (constantly needs refresh - seems strange). I will carefully heed your suggestions (thanks for them) further, including exploring how ports are handled in the Windows 7 firewall. ...

Log file from last hour's successful run attached.

Re: Can't Get Started LG570 Windows 7 Ult

I see the installer put 4 rules for the two (console and server) programs to access all UDP and all TCP ports (any, any, any, ... ).

Thus I do not need to add entries for specific ports?

and there is a fifth rule specific to port 23423.

Look right?

It's a little flaky now but I may have forgotten I've been switching between wireless and ethernet (bound address) so I'll go through the whole thing again tomorrow, and try to just remove the bound address for default.

Thanks
