Symlinks not auto updated

I am running Serviio 1.5.1 on Debian (Jesse) Linux with Java Server JRE 8u40.
My main media folder is shared, and whenever I make changes in it, they show up automatically now. Very cool.
But I also have several symlinks under that directory to other media folders. Serviio follows and plays things under these links just fine, but I noticed that when I make changes or add to those files, Serviio does not pick up on it, and I have to force refresh via the API, since there is no refresh interval anymore.
So I wonder, is there a way Serviio can auto monitor symlink'd files as well?
Would this work with hard links? Though I prefer not to use them.

On Linux the file system notification is based on iNotify. if you manage to tune it to work with iNotify, it should then work with Serviio too.
