netbox no subs
Hello,
I have a consistent problem with subtitles display. Here is my setup -> serviio media server on PC > streaming to my Netgem Netbox N8200, product sheet here > Samsung TV. Most of my media library consists of x264 encoded h264 with 5.1 DTS and embedded subtitles in matroska container. AFAIK neither set-top box, nor Samsung TV can transcode DTS, they only support passthru to optical port. So in order to hear audio on my TV device, I need to convert DTS to AC3, on the fly. However, doing so, subtitles do not work anymore. If I use "Generic DLNA profile" for my netbox, I get video and subs, but no audio (DTS). If I use a "Samsung TV (B-Series)" profile, for example, I get video and audio, but no subtitles. I also tried this solution > viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9745&p=66246&hilit=netbox > broken for me, no subs. I have tried placing srt subtitles in the movie folder, sadly with no success. Having enabled embedded subtitles or having forced burned-in subtitles did nothing for me (broken, does not play at all). I am an avid filmophile, so many movies in my library are in foreign tongue and subs are a must. I wonder if it is even possible to have on the fly audio transcoding and still watch a movie with working subs? If it is possible, then how? What do I need to do? Or what am I doing wrong? Thank you, for any help you may be able to provide.
