Transcode Audio files to FLAC instead of LPCM or MP3?

Is it possible to transcode audio files (.wav, .asf, .mpa, .ape, .mp3, etc) to FLAC? Preferrably with multichannel and 24bit/96KHz support? I found that LPCM is not possible above 48KHz and 2 channels. My receiver support FLAC 24/96 as well as normal OGG, MP3 and WMA files.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a specific reason why this would not be supported? As far as I know many devices support higher bit depth and sample rates with one of the lossless compressed formats than plain PCM.

EDIT: Come to think of it, supporting compressing audio to various compressed formats on the fly too could have some considerable advantages, for example for devices streaming over cellular networks or other relatively slow network connections.
