File added to library while copying, cause trouble?

I sometimes do a lot of file copying with my media, and I also sometimes have trouble with files that inexplicably won't play. Sometimes they work on my laptop Serviio (free), but not on my server Serviio (paid).

I'm curious how Serviio works when adding files to the library. If they are in the process of being copied when they are added to the library, is it somehow possible that the "full" metadata is not captured, and they are added successfully to the library (title is pulled from online sources) but it doesn't have all the info about the codec or file length or whatever that it needs to decode them?

I am playing everything back on XBox 360s, and I will get the typical "unsupported" message there. All the same files do work on the PC through VLC or the player in MediaBrowser.

I have no other explanation for why these files won't play, but sometimes a seemingly simple removal and re-addition to the library makes them work.
