Testing with Sony KDL-40V5500...

Yesterday I was started to look more information about DLNA and end up to the Serviio pages. I have Sony KDL-40V5500 which supports DNLA, and today I tested it with Serviio, and it seems to work pretty well!
Functions are pretty quick and at least music can be plaed thru Serviio. I shared also some video clips, but those are not visible in TV. This might be, that TV is not supporting these formats...?
But in general it works. I need to use it more and if you someone would like to know some more details, I can share those with you...

Brilliant. It would be cool if you look for what formats are supported by your TV and Serviio doesn't play them. There are slight differences between devices when streaming different (video) files. We can hopefully find what your TV expects and create a profile for it.

Now I tested different video formats, and it seems to be that only mpeg is supported (only visible formats) in list in my TV. I tested it with few video samples, but video quality is very poor... Like in music video, sounds are OK, but video format really bad. Is this because of my PC, or is it because of my connection speed? Where actually video is buffered?

Hi,
video is buffered on the Tv side. THe quality should be the same as when you're watching in on your PC, if your network cannot cope it'd result in not smooth playback, but the quality should remain unchanged.
Regarding formats, can you try this and post the results here?

Could you try to install UPnP tools (in my signature) and run AV Media Controller? Try to browse Serviio in it to see if there are the files that you expect.
Regarding formats, did you manage to stream your videos using other software? The TV seems to support MPEG2 (PS and TS), and MPEG4 - part 10 (AVC), did you manage to watch videos in any other formats (AVI, MKV, WMV, ..) before?

I'm trying to use the exact same TV and have sent you through the 'Sink' info you're after. I haven't had any success with any other programs. Serviio is the only media server my TV seems to recognise.

What files exactly are you trying to play? Are the files listeb when you browse Serviio contents or not? Follow
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=38 and point 2) and provide details of some files you're trying to play.

The V 5500's screen is matt, as is common among TV manufacturers. This should eliminate reflection problems even in bright ambient lighting. In bright environments, the KDL-40 V 5500 should also be able to unlock the potential advantages of LCD screens.
