Sony Bravia 2012 avi/xvid encoding solutions

Heres some research I did on the Sony Bravia (2012) for AVI (xvid) codecs it uses.

The TV still sucks over Samsung codec playback compatibility and Samsung
interface is way nicer to use and more simple as well.. and Sonys remote
sucks.. they have buttons around the control wheel and im always
pressing the exit or home button by mistake

Anyway back to what I figured out..

If you use a tool like Avi Mux Gui any version they tend to not play
thats cos it modifies the header to include Rec List and
OpenDML format both these add extra info to the video header
that throws off the Sony TV player however Samsung has no issue what
so ever.

So Why or what uses AviMux GUi?

its use to fix the header of videos and mostly used to ALIGN on Interleaves
the Audio which if leave it on split can affect some gear like older DVD players

meGui converter and popular free video converter uses this
at the end to Align and build a avi header

other uses avimuxgui (also free tool) to fix audio sync and ALIGNED ON INTERLEAVES
without re-encoding it as it just modifies and rebuilds the videos header

THE SOLUTION if using meGUI and AviMux Gui is to go into its settings and
for the avi settings part make sure to UNTICK rec list and OpenDML
you can tick mp3 cbr bit and your find the video will play fine now

Also I have found the latest version of AVS converter using ADV Profile L5
which disables GMC and Warppoints and BOP of 2 and if use MP3 audio
with CBR 128bit stereo converts files just fine and plays on the SONY and
other gear no issues however they dont have a setting to ALIGNED on Interleaves
the audio and comes out SPLIT although it dont seem to matter

but you could run it through AVIMUXGUI to fix that as ling as you use the
SOLUTION settings

now MP4s and MKVs is something else this above is about what I figured out

for xvid/divx files

Hope that helps the Bravia users out there also

N2200 and alike will no be able to play xvids without transcoding

if anyone has an account setup with SONY perhaps email them this
so they can fix in a new firmware upgrade..

its just a shame they cant build the VLC player in the tvs. the problem
would be solved but i guess opensource is not allowed on commercial gear
where theyre making money from it..?

ps I heard also headers made with transcode any version fails.. I suspect
its cos of similar header changes like OPENDML ??

also if got a fast enough machine just set the Bravio 2010 profile which
will make it transcode everything and plays just fine also

but if you want to use other built-in Media Servers on NAS boxes
how you make the videos can be handy to know..
like above info

Re: Sony Bravia 2012 avi/xvid encoding solutions

In case you want to know what->Rec List does.. its a feature to allow crappy MS media player to seek better so since we dont need that fix why add it to the header :)
