Serviio

Hi folks.

Finally a raw image converter (dcraw) for realtime image transcoding has been introduced to Serviio with 1.1. on Linux installations.
I've been waiting for it for quite some time.


My Nikon .nef images are now being transcoded and displayed via Serviio/Ubuntu 12.10.

Finally no more switching between MS and Linux. What a relieve.


I just had to install dcraw on top of 1.1 and set the image data path on the console.


My Sony allows to playback upnp audio tracks/folders accompanieing the image slideshows. That also works nicely with 1.1.


I'm more then happy.

I am doing somthing wrong but just dont know what.

Serviio 1.1 does not seem to Transcode CR2 or CRW files running on Windows 2008 server R2. Everything else works great just the RAW files dont work.

Any ideas, anyone?

the same problem with canon raw files and devices
I checked on Samsung TV (D6100) and Blu-ray (D5500K) both not working (Samsung TV / player (C/D/E-series) (profile 7))
with error on unsupported file format.
and with ps3 it work just fine.

it would be nice to make it work.

I use win8 x64 if this matter

ps I don't know if you aware about rawtherapee (http://rawtherapee.com/) which is also cross platform and could be used to decode raw files

pps It would be nice to be able to enable/disable transcoding for each kind of files i.e. only for photos and not to audio/video

I mean I can view canon raw images on my ps3 with serviio, but not on samsung devices.
if question abour rawtherapee, well I don't know. I never heard about PS3 Media Server before.

It looks like the D series Samsung devices have problems with transcoded images the way Serviio serves them, so i wanted to check if RAW images can be served using PS3 MS (google it). If yes, I should be able to fix it.

folders with cr2/crw files empty and I don't see much options to configure related to images file format or anything similar.

silly question why not send regular jpg file to device ?
I suppose serviio receive ppm file/stream from dcraw convert it to jpg somehow and send it do device, or is it send something else ?
if it send jpg maybe try to save this jpg to file to see how it's different from regular jpg device can show?

well it work somehow. with ps3 media server v 1.6 ( linux version on debian whezy). I was able to see crw/cr2 files on samsung devices.
it mostly crashes, but if I share only few files it work mostly fine.

p.s. there maybe some limits and 30 MIB cr2 files was rendered only partially while 9MIB CR2 file was ok.
