Serviio on Ubuntu Server
Posted: Sun Apr 15, 2012 10:58 amI used to play videos on my Sony TV set for long with PS3 Media Server. I recently discovered Serviio wich is very great because of :
- easy install
- easy configure. The console is very nice and usefull.
- well recognize by my Sony KDL37EX500
- menus on TV are so nice due to internet metadata search (CD/DVD jackets, Movies pictures, ...)
- cpu charge playing videos is very (incredibly) low, less than 50%, compare to PMS wich takes 100% on my old AMD Athlon 3600 (1 core).
So everything is quite perfect except 2 major points :
- playback interruption when using Pause/Forward/Rewind key with error message (serverunreachable). I have a special post opened in the Sony part of support forum.
- .srt files are not recognized and not viewed on tv (PMS does).
So, for the moment, I keep the 2 applications on my Ubuntu server, waiting for the next Serviio version and hoping it will clear these issues.
I am confident. This is allready agreat work !
