DLNA loses connection to Serviio

I installed Serviio 0.62, the latest as of 3/3/2012. I also installed the latest version of Java. After I installed all works very well. I since have rebooted my machine. When I login I show a red circle next to my TV name within the Serviio console. If I remove and then hit refresh again, the circle turns green. Next my Samsung series C doesn't see the Serviio server. It goes and comes back. I have to remove all my libraries and re add them all, then it works again. So after I did that, then I wanted to reboot again. Now I can't get my TV to talk at all. The circle is green next to my device within the console however and I can ping the TV's IP address. This is a Samsung so I also have their software for DLNA, this works fine. I really want to get rid of that software and just use this. All my equipment is hard wired, no wireless. Any thoughts?

I have same problem with a T-Box from Australia. Loses connection every 3-4 minutes exactly. Doesn't drop out with the xbox360 though. Havn't yet tried direct ethernet connection (since I dont have a long cable). Any other solutions? This never happened with other media server programs through T-box. Don't wanna change from serviio since its probably the best one so far.

1. Reset your router
2. Reinstall serviio
3. Update to serviio 1.0

I have the same problem with a new Samsung UE40ES6800 TV. Loses the connection after 2-3 minutes. The log is full of "Could not advertise the device on any available NIC, will try again". Nevertheless, it does connect to the TV, it just cannot keep the connection when playing a video. I have reinstalled and I have the newest versions of everything. Samsung's own AllShare server works fine and does not lose the connection. The foobar2000 UPNP server is not seen by the TV at all (in case that tells you something).

By the way, why are devices from the previous session listed in the status? It seems to me that the server should just forget about old clients and discover which clients are out there when you start a new session, as most all devices use DHCP. The IP addresses are rarely the same.

Can it come from a power-saving function?

There is no power-saving going on.

I should add that Serviio works fine with my Ellion mediaplayer, so this seems to be a Serviio-to-Samsung TV issue.

Yep, I think so. I've got a Samsung UE40ES6100, (I'm from Spain, of course) with the same behaviour.
Any workaround to fix this problem?

Many thanks....

I'm running Serviio 1.0.1 on my FreeBSD machine and I've seen the same behaviour with OpenJDK (both 6 and 7).

I own a Samsung UE46ES6100 which doesn't see Serviio most of the time, but when it does (sporadically) it only stays connected for a couple of minutes.

Now for the weird thing... FreeBSD has several java packages. diablo-jdk16 (native freebsd version; outdated an no longer maintained), openjdk16 and linux-sun-jdk16 (what is distributed by oracle for the linux platform).
Above behaviour only happens with openjdk16. The other two work great.

I'm not sure if this is related to the issue from the original poster of this thread, but thought I'd share nonetheless.

No help on this issue yet it seems. In the meantime I have tried a number of other media servers incl. Universal Media Server, Tversity, Mezzmo, Wild Media Server, and Plex. They all have issues, but Serviio and Tversity are the only two that lose the connection. With Tversity it seems to be sporadic. With Serviio it is always after 2-3 minutes of play. For video play on the Samsung TV nothing beats Plex with the Samsung Plex app installed. It supports FF and REW as well as Resume. However, the Plex app does not support audio or photos or internet media (yet). Can anybody write a Serviio app for Samsung (and fix the connection dropout at the same time)?

Try the upcoming 1.1 - hopefully it'll fix most of your issues
