serviio = happiness

i have been using serviio for about 1 1/2 years now and would like to share a little anecdotal praise for the developers with the community at large. i have a samsung ln52b, a young family of active children and a wife with zero interest in mucking around with this stuff. it was a must for the television i bought at the time to have some sort of streaming capability. our dvds were brutalized by said kids and frequently put away in the wrong cases. confusion. disaster. cut to the samsung. the early years were spent attaching one usb drive after the next to the tv. this worked fine enough but they all faced untimely demises as external drives are wont to do especially when you factor in a) kids, b) the sensitivity of the enclosures & their plugs, c) kids and d) kids. the samsung proprietary 'streaming' solution was, to say the least, less than satisfactory and, worse still, their support appeared to be non-existent save for the occasional rep on cnet. discovering serviio and getting it set up was, in effect, nothing short of injecting new life into our home entertainment. within a year, we cut the cord on cable tv and couldn't be happier. i tend to organize all of my folders by genre and the like already but, frankly, i don't need to thanks to the integration of all of the terrific metadata and the movie thumbnails make browsing a real pleasure. thanks, guys! that you continue to improve on an already great tool and provide such terrific support - on freeware, no less - warms the spirit. to any users on the boards demanding more, just remember, what you've got here in a FREE DLNA package is a privilege, not a right.
