new user with a few questions
Greetings from Canada, once again the home of the Winnipeg Jets!
My setup:
-win7 64 bit PC using a wired cat5 connection to my 2wire router (DHCP)
-PC automatically created a firewall entry for Serviio.
-Samsung BD-D6500 blu-ray player also wired (DHCP)
-2wire DHCP renewal set for 1 week. So all the devices retain their IP addresses on start up.
Everything seems to work fine except for the occasional disconnect, usually watching a HD mkv file ...frustrating.
So my questions are:
-Sould I enter my blu-ray players IP address into the Bound IP entry? Would that help with the disconnects?
-Should I create a firewall entry for the 2wire router? Again, would that help with the disconnects?
-Transcoding...Is it used to convert a file not supported by the blu-ray player into a format it does support? If so, why do some people turn off transcoding? Why not leave it enabled, if it's needed it will then automatically do its work for you.
Thanks in advance.
