Movie Posters on Logitech Revue

Recently, I have tried Serviio on my Logitech Revue and it works very good except for one thing. The movie posters that are in the embedded metadata will not show up on the Revue but they will show up on my Samsung C5500. Is there anything I'm doing wrong?

The are not embedded but downloaded from the net by Serviio. Maybe the TV doesn't support this feature?

Well I understand that it is able to download the posters but on the "about" webpage it says it looks for the embedded metadata which explains why I see the same posters with my Samsung C5500 and my computer. I think that it is a problem with Serviio and the Logitech Revue together.

1. There is NO embedded metadata, serviio sources metadata from the net for each file.

2. About page of what the Logitech Revue?

3. Reason it may not work on logitech Revue is if it only supports embedded metadata then it wont find it cause serviio does not embed metadata.

The "Support" page (sorry not "About") of Serviio. It says right on there, under metadata extraction, that it supports embedded metadata. It seems like it works because it works on the Samsung C5500

samsung doesnt support embedded metadata as far as im aware, it requests the metadata from serviio and serviio give it to it.

no that not what the support page says. and i quote.

Metadata extraction .

Serviio supports priority-based configuration of metadata extractors. The idea is that all (enabled) extractors will run for each media file and try to get as much metadata as possible. Metadata found by an extractor with higher priority overwrite metadata found by an extractor with lower priority. The current release includes these extractors (by priority):

Embedded metadata
Online metadata sources
Swisscenter
XBMC
Local poster

Embedded metadata

Some media files may include metadata stored in the media files themselves. This is the case of audio files (ID3 tags, WMA tags, etc) and some image files (EXIF tags). For video files this extractor generates the video's thumbnail.

what that says is that SERVIIO extacts the metadata from the file to be used and then passes this metadata onto the renderer, it does not how ever state that serviio embeds metadata into the files and the only thing that is extracted is the thumbnail for video files.

Exactly. I already have the movie posters embedded in the metadata. All I need is for them to show on my Logitech Revue like they do on my Samsung C5500.

That will ONLY work if the revue supports that function as my guess is it does not.

So what will work? The Embedded metadata works fine on Twonky Server and the Logitech Revue.

im not saying it wont work im saying that the fact that its embedded is erelivent as thats not how its passed to the revue.

if you can find out the code twonky uses to pass metadata to teh revue maybe ZIP can intergrate it into serviio..

u can have a look at the video file's resources in AV Media Controller served by Serviio vs Twonky. There should be a JPEG_TN resource including the thumbnail.

I'm sorry, Twonky was running on a Trial and It won't do anything anymore. Any Ideas?

Can you see those resources with Serviio in the tool?

Yes, for example , on Serviio with an mp4 of Iron Man it has Resource #1 (the video file) and Resource #2 (the JPEG of the movie poster)

That's the way the standard expects. If the TV doesn't see it then Twonky does something special to make it see it. Will need someone to try that out.
