Slow PC since upgrading from 1.2 to 1.3

Has anyone experienced a slow PC as soon as they upgraded from v1.2 (or other) to v 1.3?

I only installed 1.3 over the top of 1.2 without any other changes to my PC, and everything on my PC worked very slowly. I then deleted serviio and the PC sped up to normal. I then went and created a fresh install with 1.3 and it seems to be working fine at the moment.

What is the likely cause of this?

It's not a big deal other than having to change all the settings and add the library again. I thought installing over the top should be fine?

UPDATE: Scratch that. It slowed down again. Going back to 1.2.1

The library maybe be cached again, ffmpeg can take hit on cpu when its doing this, but this is only in the beginning after install.

After your library is built, everything will be working fine... even better in with 1.3! ;)

1.2 was fine immediately after installing even when re-adding the library.

I didn't think it was caching the library as I tested it out without re-adding anything first. Still slow. I might give it a few more days and see if updating it again creates this issue. At least I know its easily fixed by downgrading again.

Has anyone else got this?

1.2.1 didn't need library refresh, 1.3 does

Experiencing the same thing going from 1.2 to 1.3. I'm just going to let it do it's thing and hopefully I get my cpu's back to do other things.

While I certainly won't claim my experience will hold true for everyone, for me CPU use has been almost nothing after the scan completed. Right now, I have one device streaming a movie, and I am moving a large number of files from one hard drive to another. My CPU load is averaging about 20% with peaks of 30%. All four cores are in use, but that is the load across all of them. As I speak, CPU load has dropped to 5%, and the file being streamed is transcoded.

I believe once the initial scan is complete, you won't have any more performance issues. My scan took overnight, with a little over 2000 files across 5 hard drives (no RAID).

I tried it again, refreshed the library and let it run through the night in case it just needed time (roughly 1.5TB to refresh). After a full library refresh and 8 hours later with a PC restart it has still been slow. Went back to 1.2.1 and it's perfect again.

I read through the other topic. Would 8 hours overnight not be enough for normality to return? I thought that would be ample.

I had the same problem. Very slow laptop. Even after 3 hours the hard drive was still churning. I only have about 500mb of movies. I went back to 1.2.1 and everything went back to normal. If I remember right 1.2.1 took less than an hour to scan my files.

I'm working on a fix and will have a new beta ready soon. Sign up for beta if you want to give that a try.
