Hi together,

here my environment:

Server: windows server 2012 datacenter edition
Serviio: latest version pro
Mobile: Android 4.2.2 serviigo
Handy: Samsung galaxy s4

My Server is fully working, i can stream videos to my yamaha bd-s671 and also able to play music to my yamaha rx-v771.
Via the android app serviigo i can play music without trouble.

On my last handy samsung galaxy s3 i was able to stream videos with the serviigo app, awesome.
Im now on my samsung galaxy s4.
Directory browsing via the app is possible and in can also play movies via the Media Browser (internal LAN, and also via dyndns external).
After starting a movie on my smarphone i can see that the ffmpeg.exe starts with a high cpu load between 50-70%.
On the smartphone app i can see that the app try to stream and quits with unable to play. The ffmpeg.exe process stucks with the high cpu load.
Also in can see that while playing via media browser the ffmpeg.exe starts and streams the movie to the media browser. After i stop the movie the ffmpeg.exe stucks and did not terminate.

Any ideas?
with my last phone i was able to stream movies from external. Btw. i also tryed the app internal with the same result.

Best regards.

Which playback qulity are you using, Original, or Medium/Low?

Which video player are you using on your S4? The stock player probably won't work so you will need to install another one such as MX Player, VPlayer or BSPlayer, I prefer MX Player.

From the usage data I collect, your not the first person to try the app out on an S4, but I haven't had any reports for either success or failure to playback videos.

Hi im using mx-player with medium quality which was working on the s3.

but i think the problem is related to the ffmpeg.exe wich cpu load is rising up very high.
i cannot explain what the differences then before are.

Hmmm, can you check Original quality just to be sure. I'll see if there is something I can find out about video support on the S4. Maybe try those two other video player apps. It may take a few weeks before they are updated with decent support for the S4.

MX Player also has different playback modes, e.g. H/W+ vs H/W|S/W, you could try turning that mode on (or off in MX Player's settings).

Youre the master!!!

Set the option Settings -> Decoder -> Software Decoder -> S/W Decoder (Network) and the movies are streaming to an S4 Samsung device via mx-player.

Thanks a lot for your support!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But after stop watching the movie, the ffmpeg.exe process is still running with consuming 30-40% cpu load.

Thats good, if you playback any videos via Original option, you may want to turn it to H/W+.

ffmpeg will keep running until it either 1) Finishes transcoding the current video, or 2) The same device that started ffmpeg last time makes a new request. If you are using Medium/Low, it shouldn't take ffmpeg too long to finish the transcode. If you use Original, then it won't run at all as the video is delivered as is. This has, and always will be how Serviio works.
