Any software based DLNA clients supported/tested?

Any software based DLNA clients supported/tested?

I was wondering if there is a way to test the server via a software based DLNA client. I can see it on my Windows Media Play on another machine, but it's setting it to be a "Generic Profile" and won't play any Videos streams or files.

Has anyone tried it with one? I was going to play around with XBMC, but it doesn't seem to run on my Windows 2008 box. I will have to setup a Windows 7 image to test it I guess.

WMP is NOT dlna complient (microsoft didnt follow the DLNA standard ) the two best are XBMC and the client that comes in the intel tool package ( i forget the name).

I figured XBMC was a good choice, will try that out on another image. I do have those Intel tools downloaded, didn't see anything that will actually play something....just browse. I guess I should look through everything installed.

I just want to use Serviio on my non connected TV upstairs...hopefully XBMC will work out.

BTW, which profile do you use for XBMC?

generic no profile is required for software base stuff :)
