Serviio changing movie information in database by itself

If you have movies that are named correctly but do not include the date in the name and serviio identifies them correctly when they are first entered, and shows the correct metadata, will servio change that metadata if another movie comes along later with the same name? I other words do you always have to put the date in the file name? I have a bunch of files where picture and other metadata have changed recently after they were initially correct.

I've never had Serviio change the metadata from its initial download. However, there is a button in the console that forces a metadata refresh, so that could trigger a change.

I always follow the convention of including the year in a movie title, and for a TV series I place the year in the folder name. I caution you to check https://www.themoviedb.org/ for the correct year to use. This is the online database Serviio uses, and it doesn't always agree with other sources like IMDB. If you even encounter a title that is consistently mis-identified, you can add the IMDB ID number to the file name. I have only encountered on rare occasions, but it does happen. Here's a link that explains the file naming conventions in more detail.
