Files locked

I am trying to figure out how to move / rename files on Windows 10. I understand why the service will "lock" the file for a short while, but I don't want to stop it > change file location > restart service.

I saw this was asked in the past: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=23844&p=119271&hilit=file+locked#p119271 without any satisfying solution... any ideas? Thanks!

I mentioned in that post you linked, the lock is only in place while Serviio is confirming the metadata to match with the media. The lock should release within a minute or two. That's all the time I've ever seen the lock in place.

That lock is really depressing. It says it is to retrieve metadata, but that kind of thing can be retrieved in an instant, so why lock it for so long!
I mean, I think it is DeadLocked.
And even though I turned off "automatic library update" in the preferences, for some reason it seems to go and check the files on its own.

Lately, all video-related applications have been locking files, and I really wish they would stop!

This is ****!

Sorry, I don't see that behavior on any of my installations. File's locked for a couple of minutes max. As far as the time it takes, it's all dependent on Internet speed, latency, web traffic and the response of the online database, all things out of the control of Serviio.
