AppleTV VLC Client can't see Serviio

VLC on AppleTV4 can't see my Serviio instance.

Serviio is running on macOS
There are 2 other devices listed in the "Connected Devices" tab on the Serviio console
I've checked that tcp port 8895 and UDP port 1900 are open.

macOS Network utility lists
  Code:
Open TCP Port:    8895

output of netcat lists:
  Code:
nc -vnzu 192.168.1.120 1900
found 0 associations
found 1 connections:
     1:   flags=82<CONNECTED,PREFERRED>
   outif (null)
   src 192.168.1.113 port 53501
   dst 192.168.1.120 port 1900
   rank info not available

Connection to 192.168.1.120 port 1900 [udp/*] succeeded!

There is only one active NIC on the machine hosting Serviio, with IP address 192.168.1.120
All devices are on the same network / subnet

VLC iOS app can connect to Serviio

Re: AppleTV VLC Client can't see Serviio

If other devices can see your Serviio install, but this one specific player cannot, that's a pretty strong indicator there's a problem with that specific player. I don't have an Apple TV, but I do have VLC installed on my iPhone XR, as well as my Nvidia Shield Android based players. They all see both of my Serviio servers.

Any chance your AppleTV is connected wirelessly, and it's using a guest WiFi network? Guest networks always have a security setting that blocks connected devices from seeing other devices on the same network, only permitting access to the Internet.

Re: AppleTV VLC Client can't see Serviio

Yeah all devices are on the same SSID / subnet - no guest network is present.

I thought I read that VLC for AppleTV was compatible with Serviio but I'd agree with you that if other devices can see it the Serviio instance, it's probably an issue with the ATV or it's client software.

Are there any recommended free AppleTV clients that are known to work with Serviio?

Re: AppleTV VLC Client can't see Serviio

Well, I know that Infuse works with Serviio, but I don't believe they have a free version. I paid for Infuse 4 many years ago, so it's not the most current version. But I did just try it and it still sees Serviio and I could play something with it.

I just looked in the iTunes app store, and Infuse 7 is the latest version. The app is free to download, but mentions in-app purchases. Those in-app purchases are likely to unlock things like lossless audio support. I think that's why I paid for my version, so it would play my ripped Blu Ray movies.
