fixing mismatches with IMDB reference numbers

i have read and tested that I can corrent any mismatch by adding the IMDB refrence number ot a folder name
so e.g. I append ttnnnnnnn to the parent folder name for any series that is not auto matching correctly - like the original Law & Order

but when I scan the same folders with plex media server, that labelling confuses plex and it fails to find a match, because it includes the ttnnnnn in the search-for name

is there any way to get both servers - plex and serviio to auto match - e.g. maybe via some nested folder trick

examples:
serviio needs Law & Order tt0098844 for a correct match, but plex needs to see just Law & Order
serviiio needs The Eighties tt5144776 but plex needs The Eighties
i can work-around manully buy editing the plex search fie;d & re runnign match but I ahve ot do that every time I add a new episode ot a series

Re: fixing mismatches with IMDB reference numbers

Not sure why you are seeing a mismatch, when I do it

  • the The Eighties S01E01.mp4 is matched by Serviio to the correct series. I haven't got Plex (deleted it some time ago) but that should also match this filename;
  • similarly for Law & Order S01E01.mp4....
If you do need to use the IMDB reference for some reason, maybe try an additional level of sub-folder, eg:

\Law & Order\tt0098844\Season 1\
\Law & Order\tt0098844\Season 2\ etc

I realise this is an additional level of sub-folder, but it may be a way out (sorry havent Plex to test). ps. normally I avoid special characters like '&' and replace it with 'and', but it seems to work ok in this case.

i will experiment some more, and with nesting

as I use only serviio server show "by series" option, the actual folder nesting is hidden

i had folders called "the eighties" , also " the sixties", the seventies" and saw no relevent thumbnails on my client tablet, until I added the IMDB tags.
inside , I named the individual files correctly" title SnnEnn"r.g. The Sixties S01E01...

and my law & Order resolved to one of the spin off Law & Order shows - I forget which, there are several. so my serviio client had a spin off series title & thumbnail
I had ripped and named those titles myself from bought DVDs ,named like this: LAW AND ORDER s04e14. not sure with that show if the true title contains AND or "&"

and plex can be over fussy. it displkes e,g a folder called Wayward Pines Season 2 , witth correcntly names fiels inside. if I name the folder to just Wayward Pines it is OK

Re: fixing mismatches with IMDB reference numbers

@zip - fyi, discovered a minor issue when looking at this. In Mediabrowser a series with an '&' in the title (from the online database - such as Law & Order) displays correctly. Then you select the series and get:
Capture1.JPG
Capture1.JPG (13.84 KiB) Viewed 6659 times
So far, all good. Opening Season 1 gives you:
Capture2.JPG
Capture2.JPG (17.71 KiB) Viewed 6659 times
Note that "Law & Order" has been truncated to just "Law". If you then click on the word "Law" you go back to:
Capture3.JPG
Capture3.JPG (13.5 KiB) Viewed 6659 times
Note that "Law & Order" in the title has now been similarly truncated.
