Serviio chocking when trascoding large files

good day,

Hoping to get an idea as to how to proceed.

Currently running a phenom 9150e with 8 gb ram as a main media server to stream data to ROKU 4

When trying to use Serviio to play MP4/AVI files, video is jerky and/or pops my processor into 100% usage, and drops video eventually.

Would a new machine fix this?

If so, what kind of processor / memory bundle would be recommended?

Additionally, why is fast forwarding option not available in the shared files? when I ran tversity processor, there were no issues with this.. wondering I am missing something.

thank you

FF and rewind isn't available for transcoded files. Since you have a Roku 4, you might not need to transcode the files you are playing. The Roku profile included with Serviio treats all Roku players the same, but the 4 will play high bitrate files without issue. If you check the transcoding sub-group here, you'll find a Roku 4 profile I've been tinkering on. I suggest you try that first before replacing any hardware.

Remember that all Roku players only support a limited amount of file types. To play without transcoding, the container must be MKV, MP4 or AppleHTTP. The video codec must be MP4 or h.264 (the Roku 4 also supports h.265) and the audio must be AVC or AC3. It does not support any of the HD audio formats. The only Roku that will play video encoded with MPEG2 is the Roku TV.

thank you for your reply.
my apologies, I indicated a wrong version; I have a Roku 3 currently.
Main concern is with the AVI files; it appears MKVs run ok

is there an easy way to prevent Serviio from transcoding MKV files?
Looking over the profiles wiki I'm realizing that I need some sort of scripting experience to work with this.. :(
