A license for Serviio is only necessary to use the MediaBrowser web interface after the trial period expires. Is it MediaBrowser you are referring to that you cannot open?
If you purchase a Serviio Pro license, you will receive a license file via email, and that is uploaded into the console. Again, if you don't buy a license, Serviio still works but you don't have access to MediaBrowser.
