Microsoft security patches break Serviio auto database updat

I have been running Serviio version 1.5.1 ever since its release. I have so few problems I have always hesitated updating to new versions including the latest 1.6.1.

Serviio has always updated additions to the library in seconds with no intervention.
3 days ago I added the monthly Microsoft patches to my server which is running Windows 8.1.

Ever since adding the patches to Windows I have to use a forced database update in Serviio to add new additions to the library. Serviio no longer updates additions automatically. I double checked my settings in Serviio and it is still set to do automatic updates.
Anybody having a similiar experience.

Any help appreciated.
