Library Refresh

Is there a way to set the refresh to take place once a day, at a specific time? I have a NAS which is set to spin the disks down, and I only add new data in the evening, so I don't really need the refresh to happen more than once a day.

Re: Library Refresh

You can do one of two things:

  • You could set Serviio up to poll for changes every 24 hours. While this won't guarantee a specific time it will happen at a consistent interval (assuming the PC or NAS that Serviio is running on is operating 24x7, you should be able to get this to happen at the time you want by starting Serviio at the time you require, and then the poller will do its thing every 24 hours after that). Look at http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=lib ... _mechanism to see how to force polling. You need to set the serviio.forceLibraryPoller system property to true, and the serviio.libraryPollerFrequency property to 1440 (minutes).
    .
  • You could set up a scheduled task to do a "force refresh" at a set time of the day. To do this you need to construct a task to run a program that accesses the REST API in Serviio, and instructs it to do a forced refresh. How you do this depends on your OS - there are linux churn scripts posted in this forum that should help if Serviio is running on a linux pc or linux based NAS, or if running Serviio on Windows and simply using the NAS as storage, you could use this simple app from viewtopic.php?f=17&t=18183. It was designed for another purpose but will meet your need (just download the zip file, extract the .exe and run it from a scheduled task in Windows).

Re: Library Refresh

I use the Unraid server software on my media server, and I enabled the Dinamix cache plugin, which is meant to keep folder information in memory to prevent unnecessary disk spin up. It seems to work fine with the polling mechanism for serviio as I can see right now that all of my disks are spun down, and this would not happen if the polling was accessing the drives themselves.
Thanks for your help anyway! It was useful information.
