could you pleasehelp - how to remove double extension in filenames?

right now it shows in tv (for example) - movie.avi.avi

How is the file itself actually named?

If this is a Windows computer, remember that by default known file extensions are hidden. Stupid if you ask me, but they never asked

So if you see a file named movie.avi in Windows Explorer, and the extension is hidden, the actual file name is movie.avi.avi, so that's why you see it that way.

Yeah, if you use the Folders view Serviio serves the file name as the title's name. And the TV (stupidly) adds the extension from the mime-type. Having spent a week with the Tizen Samsung recently, I can say it sucks for DLNA.

can i change it somehow?

No... or use another view than Folders.

about samsung tv and dlna:
for years i use ps51d6900 and HomeMediaServer on win and it is great in all the ways... )

The view on the TV - Videos -> Movies instead of Videos -> Folders

unfortunately, when I choose Servio - Settings - Presentation - Movies - Display - there's nothing shown on tv in Movies folder. empty.
but in Folders folder - all files are shown..

What model is your TV, and what profile have you selected? In the Titles and Movies view, it will only display videos it believes can be played on your TV, and the wrong profile could cause that.

You may have been using Samsung TVs for years, but they introduced a new operating system in the 2015 models (Tizen) and it has caused problems for many DLNA services.

all the files are shown in Folder folder on tv and all of them can be played..

I have the same issue with 60AU8072. And the subtitles are not shown.

movie.mkv is shown as movie.mkv.mkv
I also added subs.srt and subs.mkv.srt but they are not shown. Not sure if this is done by serviio or the tv but it does not work anyway.

Any help will be much appreciated.

As I mentioned earlier, Samsung DLNA support has gotten worse over the years. That said, I just tried my Samsung UN43TU7000FXZA with a known SRT file that works with other players. And the captions were displayed as expected. The movie file name is "A Shot in the Dark (1964).mkv" and the SRT file is "A Shot in the Dark (1964).srt". Note that the two file names must be identical except for the file extension.

As far as the Samsung showing mkv.mkv at the end if the title name, I've seen that before on other Samsung sets. Like I said, their DLNA implementation is lacking. It's so bad that I stopped using any internal TV player for my media. I now use either a Roku player or an Nvidia Shield on all of my TVs, and don't bother using the TV interface at all.
