Selecting the right NAS - Topfield

I have previously posted regarding my problems streaming recorded TV from my Topfield TFR-2400 to my Panasonic Viera TV's. Serviio works great if I copy the recorded files from the hard disk in the TFR-2400 to my computer and stream it from there. I cant get Serviio to even see the files in the Topfield unit which I have been told is the expected outcome in this situation. I am hoping that the following will finally cure this problem for me once and for all.'
If I connect a NAS directly to the Topfield unit as an external storage device and the external storage device was running Serviio while being available on my home newtork hopefully this will work. Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.
If the above is likely to work I was hoping to get some advice on a NAS that will support Serviio being installed on it while being stable and easy to use. I like the look of the Qnap products. Can anyone help me with some advice.
