Issue with updating Serviio

Hi there,
Sorry for bringing this up again but I do have an issue with updating Serviio on my Synology DS212.
Upon updating Serviio I get the following text:
Quote:
Serviio: Port undefined configured for this package is either used by another service for system use. Please disable or modify the conflicting service, or contact the developer to modify the package configuration.
Unquote.
I tried extra rebooting as well as the putty.exe method as discribed in other posts.
Rebooting did not help and the putty.exe program can't find/connect to my Synology.
I have no idea what service is holding which "undefined" port.
Totally stumped here.
Please help.
Warm regards,
Keesmod

If you can't run the manual steps with PuTTY you will need to completely uninstall Serviio, reboot your NAS and install from fresh and re-scan your library.
It's related to how Synology packages can register a web URL. I had registered the Media Browser as Serviio's official web URL in Serviio 1.5.x but with Serviio 1.6 we got the web console so naturally I needed to have this become Serviio's default web URL. For some reason DSM cannot handle this change properly, even though I completely removed the web URL setting in preparation for this in my last version of the Serviio 1.5.2 package. It's a DSM issue really.

Hi there, it's me again!
I was able to update Serviio on the Synology.
Unfortunately, now the Serviio console on my win10 pc fails to connect, so I de-installed it and installed the latest version.
Still it does not connect stating that serviio appears not to run.
But the server is running as can be seen in the package center.
I even managed to get the newly embedded browser up and running.
This enabled me to start the library re-scan.
So all is working as far as I understand it.
What do I miss in using the Serviio console on my win10 pc?
I remember that in previous versions one had to edit the vmoptions file with -Dserviio.remoteHost=192.168.0.xxx (xxx being 107 in my case)
I have been going over the forum but I can't find a working solution.
Please help.
Regards,
Kees

There is no console application any more with Serviio 1.6 - this is one of the best new features. Manage your Serviio by clicking on the Serviio icon in DSM - see here:
http://pcloadletter.co.uk/2012/01/25/se ... o-package/Make a note of the URL, you can add it to your smartphone for instance so you can manage Serviio from your couch.

Hello, who can shed me a light on how to completely remove Serviio? It is not in package list and as I checked, /var/package/Serviio is there but nothing is beneath, meaning my library is gone too.

Hi Olivex,
I did as Patters suggested.
Everything now ok but I did had to perform a complete new library scan.
So read up on what Patters told me, download the new version and install.

Kees
