Using Serviio on DS415play

Hi everyone,

bought a DS415play and was rather devasted about it's transcoding features so before giving it back I thought I'll give Serviio a chance to impress me :)
First of all I want to say thanks to the great work you are doing. This is just amazing and, by reading trough the other posts here I have to say you're doing a great support.

My problem:
- I installed the java and Serviio server on my DSM and the console on my Windows 7 PC. When starting Serviio console my Samsung TV shows with correct IP and a green dot.
- I added "shared folders" like /volume1/video and checked the video, metadata and update checkboxes. As all my media folder were automatically created directly in the volume1 path when installing video station and media server packages, I hope these are the right pathes.
BUT the "Show status" button still shows 2 red dots and no matter how long I wait (set "pause between refresehes" to 1 minute; waiting for about an hour now) when I access the DLNA server on my TV the folders appear but have no content.
Even when using the "standard" path that Serviio is automatically filling in when not using the whole path (like /volume1/homes/serviio/...) and storing a test file here, the file will not show on my TV.

I would appreciate some help as I would really like a nice working and nicely transcoding media server to work.
Sorry if my English is not the best as I'm not a native speaker ;)
Thanks in advance

Re: Using Serviio on DS415play

Did you make sure the serviio user has read permission to the shared folder containing your media? Do this in the DSM Control Panel. (Control Panel > Shared Folder).
I will shortly be changing the package to run as the root user (which is needed for the HW transcoder) which will mean this step will become unnecessary later.

Serviio 2.1 package for Synology NAS - with limited hardware transcoding support!

To be honest I did not setup any user in Serviio. As there is only a "user password" field in the "Remote" I didn't really know what user details to type in exactly.
Or is it the other way around? Do I have to setup a user with a explicit name on the DSM, give him the rights in DSM and only give the password to the console?

Edit: Oh boy. Forget everything I asked. I just realised that Serviio automatically created an account on the DSM. Gave him the rigths, set the password in Serviio. Now it works.
Thx for the hint. Simple noob problems ;)
