Synology DS214Play Library Paths

I recently acquired a DS214Play and have set up my movie library. Question: On the same network I have a 2008 r2 server with a raid 1 set up to house my photo library and another that has the music library. These are all large media archives. I'm a newbie to linux. Is it possible to set up a path to the windows directories on the 2008 R2 server. "\volume1\whatever on the DS214Play is great for stuff on the NAS, but I would love to have 1 serviio console, (1 install) to serve up all my media. (Video, Photos, and music).

Ok I figured out how to mount the remote share. Problem is how to assign permissions to the Serviio user on the NAS?

Try creating a local account on your PC called serviio and giving it a particular password, then reset the serviio account password on the NAS to the same thing. This won't affect the Synology Serviio package because it's invoked by root running an su command to impersonate the serviio account. Then you can assign the remote PC share permissions using that PC's local serviio account. It's untested, but it should work.

I'm in the process of remuxing the entire movie catlogue and I only have so much time and processing resources. Would prefer to experiment on a stable catalogue. I'll give it a try and report back. It will probably be a week or so.

Finally got around to it. Set up a user account for "serviio" on the server side with administrative rights. (Easier that going in and assigning permissions on individual folders and security is not an issue for me.) I can now add the paths to the Win Server from the NAS media device. May not be documented but it works. I ran into a issue like this going from the Win server to a GoFLEX NAS. In that instance I had to change the service "running as" to an account that matched a user set up on the NAS. Anyway it works! Thanks for you help and patience.
