Help getting files into Serviio library with Synology DS212j

Hi I have searched this forum as well as I can and I can't seem to find an answer. I'm running Serviio on a Synology DS212j and I can' t seem to get serviio to scan my files. I've used the add path as per the instructions page at http://pcloadletter.co.uk/2012/01/25/se ... o-package/

My force refresh button is greyed out in this screen shot, and when I click status the little lights are red. I've tried adding extra paths to see if they will work but with no luck.

Serviio was not installed into the volume1/public folder like in the instructions, it was installed into a folder called /volume1/homes/. Do I need to change the path to get to /volume1/MEDIA/ or /volume1/video?

Many thanks,
nick

I checked the user permissions and they were set to read only so I changed them to read/write.

I just tried quitting Serviio console and restarting it. None of the paths I had saved were there. So i added one again and it seems to be indexing the files.

Hopefully this is resolved now.

Many thanks!

Re: Help getting files into Serviio library with Synology DS

ok so I had it working great for a few days, it was still a bit slow to select files and to start playing them but faster the the synology media server.

I have a new problem. I power cycled my router and now my synology has a different ip address. it was 10.0.0.3 now its 10.0.0.2.

I changed the file inside the serviio console app but it doesn't seem to have updated. The console app can connect to the server from my macbook, but the server doesn't seem to show up on my wdtv or my phone.

Can you please tell me how to fix it?

Also is it possible to make my router give it the same ip each time? I have a netgear WNDR3800

many thanks

I have a DGND3700 so I imagine it's similar. Log into the Netgear genie web interface and:

  • Find the MAC address for your DS - go to Attached Devices. Highlight and copy the MAC address
  • On the Advanced tab, select Setup, LAN Setup
  • under Address Reservation, press the add button
  • enter the IP address you want to assign (10.0.0.2), paste your MAC address from the first step and give the device a name.
  • Press the Add button
You may need to save the settings (whether this is needed is model dependant) and power cycle the router to get the new addresses to take.

Re: Help getting files into Serviio library with Synology DS

Hi,
I have the same/similar problem. i.e. I have installed serviio on my synology, console on a windows 8 pc. I loaded the directories as described above, but only get red dots when I select show status and the folders & libraries do not load at all.

I read above about setting the user rights - are these the user rights on the synology itself? If so, do I need to set up a user specifically for serviio? Any other suggestions as to why I can't load the libraries?

Re: Help getting files into Serviio library with Synology DS

Solved, thanks to another post. It was the directory path that didn't reflect the location on my server and had to be manually added.
