New versions thumbsdown

When i first found your program it was the best program for streaming out there. Around 1.3. Basically almost anything worked.

Then i upgraded to 1.5, and suddenly some files that i was able to stream before on 1.4, i can't stream no more. Throws the known error the filetype is not supported. Now i checked the 1.6 version and you totally butchered the console and made it into something web based. I had to register to express my disappointment with how it went. How can a product get worse over time?!

Posting in LG because that's where i used it. 1.4x would stream almost anything. Same settings, same everything, 1.5 and 1.6 can't.

This for example plays on 1.4 and not on 1.5/1.6

In 1.4 what profile did you use in the console for your TV? You need to use the same one in 1.5 and 1.6.
If you used the LG profile in 1.4 you need to ensure that you have it selected in the 1.5 and 1.6 console.
If it was the generic profile you need to use that again in 1.5 and 1.6.

To be fair if you read the LG forums the opinion seem to be that LG has such a poor DLNA implementation that Serviio cannot overcome all its problems, but if you got it to work in 1.4 then 'the same files' will work in 1.6 with the same profile, because the LG profile has not been changed between 1.4 and 1.5 and 1.6, so that is not the problem.

Other new files are subject to the same LG problems that other posters have reported that usually trace to an LG firmware or implementation deficiency. You will need to report them with their ffmpeg and debug log to have others help you.

Yea, you would think that, but it does not. And yes, all settings are the same! Ofc i chose lg player profile on all.

Like i said, i used serviio at least 2 years without any problems. Only files it did not stream was some .ts containers. Since i have constantly same files i play (lots of cartoons for children and some tv shows i watch every few months again like survivor or star trek) nothing changed. I first noticed problems on 1.5 then i upgraded to 1.6 and same problem persists. I posted you above mediainfo from a file that i am currently watching normaly on 1.4.1, and that throws the error on 1.5 and 1.6.

Without a debug log to see what is really happening, I can only guess that the file is being transcoded which the LG will notlike. One way this can happen is if you have subtitles set on. Try turning them all off in the console and turn off transcoding in the console and see if that helps.

I have same settings in all versions. Transcoding is on, produce best quality is on, subtitles are on, audio downmix to stereo. I've solved the problem by downgrading but its a pity that the program supports less files as it progresses in versions which sounds stupid when you think about it, but its how it is. Hopefully the program coders will think about that in newer versions. I presume that the pro version wouldn't have these problems, is probably just how things work i guess.

Well reverting to 1.4 is one solution. Per the release notes, Subtitle settings were changed with 1.6 to support hard encoding so perhaps your settings really are not the same as before. As I suggested you might want to turn off any settings that trigger transcoding on a TV that will not accept transcoding.

So why did 1.5 fail then? :)

I mean at this point i might even get the detailed log while on 1.4, and the install 1.5 and get the log also to compare. But im not sure are you just a member or serviio developer seriously interested in this?
Also, not sure about your note with tv that doesnt accept transcoding when it does if it works on 1.4 and there never was a problem :) Im not talking about 1 file here man also.

I don't see much point in continuing this dialog. If you don't wish to test 1.5 and 1.6 with settings the way I have suggested to see if it works, there is not much point in getting debug logs that show transcoding that we know will fail.
