Transcoding & 3D files problem

Hello everybody! :D I have a Mac and Sony Bravia 3D TV and this is my problem:

I have 1 normal avi file and 2 3D files as .mp4. When at the first time I tried to use Serviio it was playing the 1 normal .avi file quite good with a normal (not very good) quality of the video, then the two 3D files were playing normally too then I tried to go with my Sony Bravia TV in side by side 3D mode but it doesn't go in that mode because the TV accepts the -mp4 files as normal video files... Then I checked out the app on the Mac and I noticed that transcoding box was checked so I thought it wasn't playing the 1 normal .avi file because it was transcoding and it didn't played the two 3D files because it showed as transcoded clips.. So I checked off the "transcoding" box and on my TV Sony Bravia doesn't show any video anymore. I really hope you understood my problem and my final question is "How can I play 3D side by side files on my 3D Sony Tv Bravia with DLNA Serviio app?" Thanks for all the future help!

Can't say I follow really, the biggest cue you could give us is your model of tv as just saying it's a Sony, well its a bit vague. Model e.g KDL-32EX503 and region, USA, Europe ....then tell us what Serviio detects your tv as (see the profile box) ?

So you need transcode enabled to play the AVI file as your 2010 series Sony can't play the format natively. Hence when you unticked the box you no longer see the AVI file listed.

To play the 3d files natively as 3d files on your set I'm not sure about, they have to be in a format your tv supports directly so its a limitation of the tv and the source file rather than serviio I'd of thought.

Ok I got it so the question is pretty simple which movie file does the tv require to natively play 3d files? xD I tried mp4 and mkv and they didn't work... Is there any 3d file out there?

an original source bluray or a media player thats 3d file compatible, I'm not sure your tv is going to play back over DLNA any 3d files....

I tried even on a usb devi e but still nothing, the tv accepts .mp4 and .mkv as normalcfiles and moreover over usb device the tv doesn't even show any mkv files like the tv can't play that format. Looks like a crappy tv to me, do u?

No Sony tv yet support mkv files directly, apps like Serviio repackage or transcode so the tv can see and play them. Your tv sounds like its performing normally, its just you want it to do things it cannot do. You might want to look at getting a media player as they support more formats directly and much cheaper than a new tv.

I paid this tvset a lot of bucksclike thousands! So i won't get any more great tv for at least 2-3 years but I have the Sony 3D Bluray Player... No idea ifmit might work... However sounds stupid I have a 3D tv and I can't play 3D files like a computer can't play an avi file or play a mp3 file.

I watched a 3d movie on Bravia the other day - it just has to be encoded with the Side-By-Side image.
