[SOLVED] Folder Tree on Sony Barvia xBar

Hi,
This is my first post on this forum, which I have joined as I have recently tried serviio on my Windows Home Server v1. Prior to serviio I have been using Twonky Server, which to be fair has been working fine with the exception of a niggle that I cant get to the bottom of. That is the way streaming servers display folders on the Sony XBar navigation.

I thought serviio was different as I installed it first on a Windows 7 pc serving up videos and the problem did not arise. However now I have installed serviio on my WHS it is the same as twonky :(
Bascially my niggle is the sub folders shown under each media type i.e. under Video on the Sony Xbar I get three subfolders, Audio, Image Video. Under Photos I again get get three subfolders, Audio, Image Video and of course the same applies to Music.
As you may know if a user selects Image folder under the Video media option nothing will display not Videos or even pictures. It becomes very confusing to have the two irrelevant folders listed under each media type some of which dont do anything.
Is this a requirement of a DLNA media server or just the way the renderer in the Sony TV displays the folders. On the Twonky forum lots of users are creating customised trees by editing an xml view file, and I have asked several times if these three default "root" folders are mandatory, but I cannot get an answer hence my move to serviio.
It must have something to do with which media is being served up. On the Windows 7 machine I only had video and therefore only selected video in the library option of serviio console. On the bravia it therefore only displays the Video folder, (albeit Video is listed under each media type on the XBar) which should have been a clue ;) On my live Home Server I have photos, music and video so have created links to each relevant share related to the media type.
So my questions are:-
1) Are these three folders mandatory?
2) If not is there an easy way of either removing or hiding them?
3) Is it possible to dispense with the three root folders all together and just have the sub folders i.e. Titles, Movies, Series, Folder etc.
I am fairly IT savvy and could edit an xml file given good instructions but I am not a programmer and much of the conversations on the Twonky forum went right over my head.
Any advice would be gladly accepted
Fozzie

What is your Sony model number ?
On serviio console, you could select a "Sony TV" profile. Restart serviio service and check now on your Xbar....

Hi Illico,
Its the Bravia KDL-52W5500. It also does it on my newer 32" internet ready Bravia. I forget the model number for now.

Serviio automatically detected the w5500 as a Sony TV and selected the correct profile so I dont think stopping and starting the service will help but I will try it.

Yes this is how DLNA was specified, so this is how renderer browsed the media library.
But Sony browsed differently when server is Windows Media Server. So since 0.6 version, Zip has modified and customized the sony profile to dupe the Sony TV, so now, sub folders disappeared.

So If Serviio automatically selects the correct profile, all sub folders should have disappeared.

Ahh, I am using the current stable build 0.5.2 which is downloaded with the WHS plug in. This was the only version available when I last looked at the website but I notice that 0.6 has now been made available for general release. Will update to version 0.6 and report back.
I appreciate the explanation of the folders, thats more than I have been able to gleen elswhere.
Many thanks

Just thought I would come back and post my experience with version 0.6 which I have now installed. As predicted by Illico the root folders other than the media appropriate ones are hidden. This is great and needless to say I have dropped twonky server and switched to serviio! Another benefit over twonky is the generation of automatic thumbnails from the image in the folder for each ripped DVD :D . Great bit of software ........keep up the good work guys
