Serviio - free DLNA media server for Windows, Mac and Linux

Media Streaming Server

Version 1.5 released

We are pleased to announce that version 1.5 is available for download.

This version is mostly focused on making using Serviio easier and less error-prone for the users. Java now comes bundled with the Windows and OSX versions, so you don't need to install it on your system manually and deal with problems when your Java gets updated. Linux users still have to install Java 8 (which is now the minimum requirement). OSX version is now distributed as an installer and starts the server as a service when your Mac boots up - no more Force close when shutting down your Mac. Only 64-bit Macs are supported now.

The library indexing engine has been reworked, so that you get your filesystem changes reflected in the library immediately, without the need of a constant refresh. It should also make the process less CPU intensive. Remote drives are also handled differently without any side effects.

Apart from these, there are many smaller improvements and fixes.

As always, thanks go to the testers, translators and the guys helping at the forum.

Version 1.4.1 released

We are pleased to announce that version 1.4.1 has been released.

This is mostly a bugfixing release, with some additional small features added to the mix.

For the MediaBrowser changes to appear, don't forget to clear your browser cache.

As usual, thanks to the testers for the feedback.

Version 1.3.1 released

In a quick succession after the 1.3 release we are happy to bring you a mostly bug fixing release 1.3.1.

It addresses some library indexing performance issues as well as fixed hardsubs on some platforms. Get more details.

Version 1.4 released

We are pleased to announce that version 1.4 has been released.

This includes a major MediaBrowser redesign (Pro edition only). It is now designed with a mobile-first approach making it much more usable on mobiles and tablets, is responsive and supports 'retina' displays. This has been a major undertaking and is just the beginning, there will be more features coming to MediaBrowser in the future.

There are additional new features (although no major ones this time) and bug fixes.

As usual, many thanks to the beta testers and translators.

Have a great Holiday season, everyone.

Version 1.3 released

We are happy to announce that version 1.3 is now ready for your download.

There have been numerous improvements for the Pro customers. Namely support for iOS devices in MediaBrowser and assigning a default Access group to new devices.

Serviio now supports more subtitle formats, enables transcoding to H264 (thanks to libx264), offers more browsing categories for Audio, makes it much easier to share online sources via ServiioLinks and many more.

There have also been numerous bug fixes and stability improvements, notably caused by latest java update on OSX.

Please note that if you are upgrading from previous versions, your whole library will be re-scanned, which might take some time and use considerable amount of CPU as well.

As always, thanks to the betatesters and translators for helping us deliver this to you.
